The Volunteers at Norton Community Hospital play a very
important role, by helping us be a leader in improving the health and quality of life in
the communities in which we serve. Working as a team our volunteers serve our patients,
visitors and staff with respect and kindness. At Norton Community Hospital, we have
three areas to volunteer the
Auxiliary (gift shop), Volunteer Program and the Chaplaincy Program.

Norton Community Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. is a
not-for-profit organization consisting of approximately 35 members. This organization
operates the
Helping Hands Gift Shop and staffs the Information Desk, both of which are
located in the main lobby of the hospital. Monies generated in the gift shop are
generously donated back to the hospital and the community through nursing scholarships,
coats for kids, food for the local food bank, the Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer
Center, renovation of patient areas and equipment.
The Norton Community Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. is a member of the Virginia Association
of Healthcare Auxiliaries and Volunteers.
Interested in being an Auxiliary/Volunteer Member?
- An
application must be completed and returned to The Director of Patient Resource Management.
- A criminal history background check.
- Dues of $5.00 must be paid.
- A completed PPD (TB Test) is required.
- HIPAA Training Privacy Issues and Regulations
- Training with Infection Control and Safety Officer.
- Hospital Tour and Orientation.
- Attendance of Monthly meetings and Education sessions.
