Community Healthcare Foundation

Community Healthcare Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Norton Community Hospital. It has twelve leaders from the community who serve as the Board of Directors for the 501 © 3 not-for-profit Foundation. The foundation plans to develop resources to support Norton Community Hospital in providing access to the best healthcare available. Through the Foundation we plan to raise an Investment of funds to provide services in a way of funding equipment and meeting goals to expand service to the local areas of our region.

The resources that are developed will go toward expanding service to the Coalfield regions of Southwest Virginia through caring for new lives, education, recruitment of qualified physicians, supporting the patient and care givers, end ensuring a healthier future through nurturing and treating those who are ill.

Through Philanthropic support of Community Healthcare Foundation we believe that we can grow through technology, focus on wellness and prevention efforts in the areas of Community education and health awareness programs. We will serve as a center for the training of area health care professionals. We will place emphasis on the quality of care for our patients, their families, and their loved ones.

Specific areas of focus for the funds during the initial phases of the operation of this foundation will include the following:

Ø       Physician Development

Ø       Residency Program

Ø       Technological Advancement

Ø       Support for the Uninsured

Physician Development

With an ever-growing population of physicians reaching the age of retirement, Norton Community Healthcare Foundation intends to continue support for local students that demonstrate a desire to seek opportunities in primary physician services or other needed specialties. This program will allow the local community to continually provide a high standard of care and take an active role in developing a medical community of committed, dedicated physicians that understand the unique issues of this region.

Residency Program Support

With Norton Community Hospital establishing the only recognized Family Practice and Internal Medicine Residency in Southwest Virginia and in recognition that the financial support from state and federal funding is declining the Foundation will provide planned support for support and funding to assist in the further development of residency training in Southwest Virginia.

Technological Advancement

The ever-changing healthcare technology places a great strain on the healthcare institutions economic status and in response to this the Foundation will support efforts to provide funding to obtain additional technology, which enhances the provision of care to the members of the community. The Foundation will strive to ensure that this community is provided access to the level of technology commensurate with the advancements and appropriateness of our standard of care.

Support for the Uninsured

In recognition of the growing national concern for the uninsured this Foundation will establish objectives to support those that cannot afford care or that are temporarily placed in circumstances that hinder that access to care. The Foundation will strive to make access to care a primary focus of the strategy for operation of this organization.

Community Healthcare Foundation intends to maintain a strategic focus on the quality, cost and access to care for the community regardless of financial, social or cultural status. Through charitable care we will serve the poor and underserved to build this bridge to a healthier tomorrow, and encourage giving to life and a lifetime of giving.
